Foundation comes in liquid or powder form which is used on the face and neck to ensure a smooth and even complexion covering any flaws on the skin. There are three types of foundation finishes (how the skin looks after the foundation has been applied and has set):
- Matte Finish – With a matte finish, the skin looks flat and smooth. It is a good choice for clients with oily skin and texture issues as it evens the skin texture.
- Dewy Finish: This gives a radiant hydrated look. It is good for dry or ageing skin.
- Satin Finish: This gives a subtle shine that falls between a matte and dewy finish. It is good for almost all skin types.
Foundation coverage describes the amount of pigment in a foundation and the amount of foundation that would be needed to cover the skin. A sheer coverage foundation lightly covers the skin while a full coverage foundation has the most pigment and completely covers the skin, it is used to achieve a flawless skin look. A medium coverage foundation on the other hand covers dark spots and imperfections while a medium to full coverage can be used to build coverage from medium to full.
