The following steps must be followed to maintain the treatment area’s hygiene:
- The salon must be cleaned rigorously on a daily basis
- The treatment area/couch must be cleaned before and after every client
- Clean and fresh towels must be used for each client to avoid infections
- All dirty towels and linen must be washed and cleaned at a minimum 60 ˚ C temperature
- Creams, sprays and lotions must be dispensed from spray bottles rather than using bare hands
- All tools must be sterilised regularly
- Empty all bins and dispose of the contaminated products accordingly
- Make sure that all plugs and equipment wires adhere to the British Standards
- Therapists must wear gloves and PPE all the time
- Read all instructions and labels on the equipment
- Know the hazardous warning signs given on user manual guides by manufacturers
- Products must be stored in a safe, dry and cool place
- Keep equipment on a solid surface/table or trolley
- Always keep and update a first aid kit in case of emergency
